Halloween Trunk or Treat set for Oct. 28 at Teamsters in Tukwila

TUKWILA, Wash. — Get ready for the 4th annual Halloween Trunk or Treat!

This fun family event featuring food, raffles, music, and of course, candy is open to all and will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 in the parking lot of the Teamsters Hall, 14675 Interurban Blvd. in Tukwila. It is sponsored by the Pacific NW Teamsters National Black Caucus but is open to all union members and their families.

Trunk or Treat is an event, typically held in a parking lot, in which a group of trusted adults decorate the trunks of their cars for Halloween and pass out candy to our labor families and community. It makes for a safer environment (and less walking) and allows hosts to provide even more fun.

So make plans to dress up in your favorite costume for a Halloween afternoon of fun while families trunk or treat from decorated vehicles.

Here’s what you need to know:

HOST A TRUNK — Hosting a trunk is an excellent way to connect with union families and fellow community members and strengthen the bonds within our neighborhood. Your “trunk” can be simple or elaborate… it’s up to you. As you’re dreaming up ideas, consider your trunk as the stage on which you will perform in your coordinating costume with fun scene settings and props. Representing a union, perhaps a theme in support of your local would be fun. Need inspiration? A quick image search of “Trunk or Treat” shows dozens of possibilities. Secure your spot as a trunk host by contacting Shaunie at shauniejw@gmail.com.

WHAT TO BRING — When selecting treats for “Trick-or-Treaters,” candy (pre-wrapped and sealed) is an obvious choice, but other favorite treats include pencils, pens, erasers, glow sticks, bracelets, bookmarks, stickers, notepads, bouncy balls, and fake tattoos. Be prepared to accommodate approximately up to 600 children. (Organizers will have additional candy as needed.)

SPREAD THE WORD — Please invite your union siblings and their families. Share the Facebook event page and RSVP there.
