Public workers rallying August 20

All are invited to join WFSE members rallying statewide for a fair contract

OLYMPIA, WA (August 15, 2024) — State workers represented by Washington Federation of State Employees/AFSCME Council 28 are inviting all union siblings and labor supporters to join them for rallies across Washington on August 20, bringing their fight for a fair contract to the public.

Negotiations for the 2025-2027 contract for these workers are ongoing, with the union reporting pitifully low wage offers from the state. These workers provide critical services to the public; without fair pay, retaining and recruiting the staff needed to provide these services is increasingly difficult, potentially impacting the public’s access.

That’s why the workers are taking to the streets — specifically, highway overpasses — on August 20 to raise awareness and build solidarity with the public the workers serve.

TAKE A STAND — join WFSE members at actions across Washington on August 20. Sign up for a local action today.

Rallies are taking place in Bellingham, Olympia, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, and Union Gap. More information about the ongoing contract fight can be found at the WFSE contract webpage.
