Elysian Teamsters to rally Sept. 28
SEATTLE, WA (September 23, 2024) — Workers at microbrewery Elysian Brewing are fighting for their first contract more than a year after winning their union. These 33 workers at the Anheuser Busch, AB InBev-owned microbrewery organized with Teamsters local 117 in August of 2023; despite the employers’ legal obligation to bargain in good faith, Elysian Brewing has refused to bargain.
Elysian Brewery used to be a locally-owned business with roots deeply embedded in Seattle’s Capitol Hill and Georgetown neighborhoods. Workers were valued for producing some of the highest-quality micro-brews in the country. That all changed in 2015 when the company was bought out by multinational behemoth Anheuser Busch.
Now, the company is pushing a decertification vote scheduled for October 1st. Teamsters 117 is putting out the call for labor to stand with the workers at Elysian Brewing in defending their union and successfully bargaining a first contract.
TAKE A STAND: Teamsters will be holding a rally in support of workers on Saturday, September 28 at 12 noon in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle. Use the RSVP link for the specific location of the rally and to let Local 117 know you plan to attend.
