What is the Clark PUD & why should you care?

The Southwest Washington Central Labor Council’s podcast explores the importance of the Clark Public Utilities District

VANCOUVER, WA (October 3, 2024) — Public Utility Districts (PUD) have tremendous impacts on working people’s daily lives; even if they don’t get a comparable amount of interest from the public. Episode 42 of the Southwest Washington Central Labor Council’s podcast Working To Live In Southwest Washington takes us inside the world of PUDs through a conversation with labor-endorsed candidate for Clark Public Utilities Commissioner, James O’Neil.

Host Harold Phillips sits down with O’Neil to find out what the PUD is, why O’Neil thinks working people need to think about water and electricity, and why he believes the people working at Clark PUD are the most important part of the organization. But many working people are unaware of the impact the Clark PUD has, or what the Commissioners who oversee it do.

As O’Neil notes on his campaign website, Clark County is one of the fastest growing counties in the Pacific Northwest. He sees good bones in the Clark PUD, a solid foundation for maintaining and growing quality service as new technologies emerge.
