‘We Protect Kids’ AFT town hall

As immigration enforcement escalates, join AFT for a town hall sharing information and resources to help protect working families

(January 29, 2025) — As the Trump administration continues to put out executive orders that are destabilizing for working families, changes in federal immigration policy are setting off alarm bells. On January 20th, the President rescinded the policy preventing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from accessing sensitive locations like schools, healthcare facilities, churches and other social services sites. This change is creating a climate of fear for educators, healthcare workers, and immigrant communities.

In response, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is holding a town hall addressing these alarming changes in federal policies. The town hall, open to all, will examine the harmful consequences of rescinding the sensitive locations/protected areas memo, discuss the impact of the new president’s mass deportation agenda on schools and hospitals, and provide guidance on what to do when federal agents show up at these critical community spaces.
