WSLC, state agencies and partners sharing resources available for state workers and contractors facing job loss
OLYMPIA, WA (Updated August 20, 2025) — For local public servants experiencing layoffs as a result of federal funding cuts and budget cuts at the state level, help is available. Following a successful series of educational sessions for impacted federal workers, the Washington State Labor Council, the Washington State Employment Security Department and WorkSource WA are offering a free session detailing resources available for laid off workers in Washington.
The next virtual, no-cost session will take place Thursday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m. and is open to all state employees and contractors. Register here.

The virtual, no-cost session will take place Tuesday, June 10 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., and is open to all state employees and contractors. Register here. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. today, June 9.
WSLC Workforce Development Directors Emmanuel Flores and Chelsea Mason-Placek are helping lead the training, which will cover resources like accessing unemployment benefits, navigating health care benefits, career guidance, job assistance, and other resources offered by the WSLC.
