Nine months in, Lacey healthcare workers to picket
After nine months of negotiations, home health and hospice healthcare workers at Providence at Home with Compassus in Lacey are still fighting for wages that can recruit and retain staff, safe staffing, quality benefits, and a strong and diverse workforce. Workers are holding an informational picket on October 1.
The following is from SEIU Healthcare 1199NW:
LACEY, WA (September 30, 2025) — We are healthcare workers at Providence at Home with Compassus, united in SEIU Healthcare 1199NW. We are RNs, MSWs, OTs, PTs, schedulers and CNAs who care for our community members in their most vulnerable moments.
We are facing high turnover, short staffing, and delayed care due to insufficient wages at Providence at Home with Compassus. We are deeply committed to our patients – we know that we could work in a nearby hospital and make much more, but our goal is not greed, it’s the well-being of our patients and security for our families. We are being paid far behind market, and both workers and our patients are being devalued.
We stand united against corporate greed for a strong union contract with fair wages and quality benefits – and we are asking our community to stand with us. Change is desperately needed in order to recruit and retain a qualified workforce to provide the excellent care that our patients and communities deserve.

The dedicated healthcare workers at Providence at Home with Compassus are standing strong in our fight for a fair union contract that will ensure:
- A wage scale that will move us all forward
- Safe staffing so we can provide the best care possible
- Benefits our families can count on
- Equal employment for all for a strong, diverse workforce
Amidst our contract fight, Compassus, a private equity firm, acquired our facility. The out-of-state executives boast 233% increase in profit over the last three years. At the bargaining table, it’s clear that their priority is to make money for their shareholders. After 9 months, they are still not bringing acceptable proposals to recruit and retain.
We won’t stand for this. We’re using our unity and strength to push Providence at Home with Compassus to invest in its workforce, in quality care, and in the well-being of its patients.
As frontline healthcare workers, we are holding executives accountable to live up to the values that should define our facilities. We are united and we will not back down until we achieve the improvements we deserve.
