A People’s Trade Agenda

Upcoming ‘Trade Justice 101’ events in Seattle and Bellingham will dive into how working people are organizing for trade justice

SEATTLE, WA (May 4, 2026) — All are invited to join the Washington Fair Trade Coalition (WFTC) and Trade Justice Education fund for two upcoming events that are part of WFTC’s PNW Cross-Border Day of Solidarity campaign, highlighting the impacts of trade policies that harm working people across North America and beyond. That campaign will culminate in a May 30 day of action on Peace Arch park on the U.S./Canada border, bringing together working people fighting for trade justice in Washington and Vancouver, B.C.

To expand understanding of trade policy and worker impacts, the first Trade Justice 101 event will be held in Seattle on May 5, followed by a May 13 event in Bellingham.

From the organizers:

Come hear directly from workers and organizers about how communities across Washington are impacted by rigged trade policy, and how we are coming together in solidarity to demand a People’s Trade Agenda. Our PNW Cross-Border Day of Solidarity Campaign will culminate in a community celebration and rally for a people’s trade agenda at the end of May.

As the governments of the United States, Mexico, and Canada actively negotiate new rules for the global economy, our current administration and others are pursuing a rigged agenda that puts the interests of billionaires and corporations ahead of working people, family farmers, and the environment in North America and beyond. Throughout May and June, activists and civil society organizations throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada are mobilizing in Days of Solidarity that reject attempts to pit working people against one another, that demonstrate that communities across North America have shared interests, and that demand that governments prioritize the needs of people and communities ahead of corporate profits.
