U.S. Senators: confirm Lauren McFerran

As the clock ticks down, the AFL-CIO is encouraging all working people to urge their senators to confirm McFerran to the NLRB

WASHINGTON D.C. (December 11, 2024) — By Wednesday night, the Senate will vote on the confirmation of President Biden’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chair Lauren McFerran. If McFerran is confirmed, the NLRB will maintain a pro-worker majority at least through August 2026.

To protect workers’ right to organize and collectively bargain, it is critical for McFerran to be confirmed. Under the Biden Administration, the NLRB has used it’s authority to tackle practices that make it harder for workers to exercise their legal rights to organize and collectively bargain, and has held employers accountable for union-busting and violations of workers’ rights.

Union elections through the NLRB have doubled since President Biden’s took office. That worker momentum is not waning. In fact, it’s gaining speed; 2024 saw 27% more NLRB elections than 2023. As we look towards a new federal administration packed with CEOs, anti-worker politicians, and the ultra-wealthy, a NLRB pro-worker majority is all the more essential to ensure working people can continue to exercise their right to organize.

The AFL-CIO has set up a quick phone call action, complete with a form to connect calls to your senators’ offices, and suggested talking points. But you don’t need to make an impassioned argument on the phone for your call to make a difference; simply calling and urging your senators to support Lauren McFerran’s confirmation can make a difference. The more working people who make the call, the stronger the message.

TAKE A STAND: take three minutes to call your senators now and urge them to confirm Lauren McFerran today.
