IAM 751 Solidarity Rally today in Seattle
SEATTLE (Jan. 2, 2014) — Machinists (IAM) District 751 is holding a Solidarity Rally today at 4 p.m. to urge members who work at The Boeing Co. to vote against the company’s revised contract extension proposal that takes away pensions and makes other concessions in exchange for the company’s assurance that the 777X will be built in Washington state. The rally will be at the IAM 751 Union Hall in Seattle, 9135 15th Pl. South, and all community supporters and members of all unions are encouraged to attend. (Wear your union colors!)
The event flier reads: “Machinists stand ready to build the 777X. We are the key to a successful 777X future. Rejecting this concessionary offer, does not diminish ALL the advantages of building the plane here. Our current wages and benefits are less than 5 percent of airplane costs without these concessions.
“VOTE NO and tell Boeing to focus on building the 777X here because analysts, customers and shareholders agree — that is the right choice!”
