Labor Day picnics and celebrations are back!

After a few years off during the COVID-19 pandemic, the tradition of Labor Day picnics and events hosted by regional AFL-CIO Central Labor Councils is back! Mark your calendars and make plans to bring your family and join your friends at the following Labor Day events on Monday, Sept. 5:

COWLITZ-WAHKIAKUM and SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON — Labor Day Picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Haydu Park, 253 Kalama River Road in Kalama. Food by Spin Catering, bingo, kids games, music, and local politics. Jointly sponsored by Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Counties CLC and Southwest Washington CLC. Get details.

MLK KING — Labor Day Picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Angle Lake Park, 19408 International Blvd. in SeaTac. Free food from local food trucks, a splash park and games for kids, a swimming beach, and plenty of union solidarity to celebrate this special day. Sponsored by MLK Labor. Get details.

NORTHWEST WASHINGTON — Labor Day Celebration from noon to 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park, 1 River Road in Sedro Woolley. Bring the whole family to this event for some great food and fun. Sponsored by the Northwest Washington Central Labor Council. Get details.

PIERCE — Ralph Chaplin Gravesite Memorial at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum, 5212 70th St W. in Tacoma. Join the Pierce County Central Labor Council in celebrating Ralph Chaplin (1887~1967), a longtime labor activist, poet, author and songwriter, who dedicated his life to the cause of organized labor and is credited with writing the words of the internationally acclaimed anthem: “Solidarity Forever.” Get details.

SNOHOMISH & ISLAND — The Snohomish and Island County Labor Council hopes to continue its annual Labor Day celebration next year. For now, the CLC invites all union members and their families to Solidarity Night at the AquaSox at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Funko Field, 3900 Broadway in Everett. The first 1,000 people through the gate will get a commemorative Solidarity Night Baseball Jersey, thanks to IAM 751 and SICLC. Get details.

SPOKANE REGIONAL — Labor Day Picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Q’Emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Dr. in Post Falls, Idaho. Bring the family to enjoy great food and live music, plus a Poker Run and Car Show that start at 10 a.m. Jointly sponsored by the North Idaho and Spokane Regional Labor Councils.

THURSTON-LEWIS-MASON — Labor Day Picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stan Hedwall Park, 1501 Rice Road in Chehalis. Bring the whole family for free food and refreshments, children’s entertainment, and most of all fun and solidarity! Sponsored by the Thurston-Lewis-Mason Central Labor Council. Get details.
