Sign up for some Homegrown leafleting
Support sandwich workers seeking a fair process to unionize as they step up actions, starting Aug. 13
SEATTLE (Aug. 11, 2022) — Sandwich workers at Homegrown, makers of Molly’s, Tosti, Shine, and Bolt products, want a fair process to join together in a union with UNITE HERE Local 8. On June 3, Homegrown workers in the cafes and wholesale locations presented a majority petition to the company requesting a fair process to unionize. These workers are demanding safety, respect, and jobs that permit people to sustain themselves in this region.
Since then, they have organized six pickets and more than a dozen leaflets to educate the public about their fight for fairness. Now they’re asking for help from their labor siblings.
TAKE A STAND — Homegrown workers are scaling up their effort to educate customers about their struggle and are asking for union members and supporters to join a leafleting action starting Saturday, Aug. 13. These impactful actions are vital to the success of their campaign, plus they are easy and lots of fun! Please sign up here for one or more of the many upcoming one-hour leafleting shifts. Also, follow their campaign on Twitter @OurUnionIsHG.
Here is a video featuring Homegrown workers describing their efforts which was shown to delegates attending the 2022 Convention of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO last month:
