ELECTION

We’re in the home stretch; volunteer to help get out the vote!

(Oct. 30, 2020) — This is it. There are just five days left in the home stretch to get out the union vote in the most important election of our lives. Labor Neighbor, the grassroots political action program of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, invites all union members to participate in the following important events:

FRIDAY — Join AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka for a virtual GOTV Kickoff event via Zoom starting at 11 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, Oct. 30. Click here to register and, following the kickoff, participants will join some of our union siblings in battleground states for a FUN Bank. Afterwards, union volunteers are needed for our final Friday FUN Bank from 5 to 7 p.m.! Register here.

SATURDAY — Union volunteers are needed for our final Saturday FUN Banks. There will be two shifts: from 10 a.m. to noon making Washington calls, and from noon to 2 p.m. calling battleground states. Register here.

SUNDAY at 11 a.m. — The WSLC invites leaders, staffers and rank-and-file activists from all affiliated unions to attend the first in a series of trainings related to the election and beyond: “Defend Democracy: Protect Our Communities.” It will be held from 11 a.m.to noon Sunday, Nov. 1 via Zoom. Join WSLC President Larry Brown and WSLC Secretary Treasurer April Sims in preparing Washington’s labor movement to take action after the Nov. 3 election in the event of a Biden win, a Trump win, or the likely scenario of an election outcome that is delayed until the unusually high number of mail-in ballots are counted in the days following Election Day. Click here to register for this training. All participants are encouraged to take this Democracy Defender Pledge/Survey  and to stick around after Sunday’s one-hour Defend Democracy training to join the Labor Neighbor FUN Bank from noon to 2 p.m.  Learn more here.

MONDAY — Union volunteers are needed for our final Monday FUN Banks. There will be four shifts: from 10 a.m. to noon and noon to 2 p.m. calling battleground states, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. making Washington calls. Register here.
