Joe Kendo appointed WSLC Government Affairs Director

WSLC-logo-NEW-color-250p(May 1, 2015) — The following statement was released this morning by Jeff Johnson, President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO:

It gives me great pleasure to announce today that I am appointing Joe Kendo to the position of Government Affairs Director for the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO. For the past two years Joe has served as the WSLC’s Legislative and Policy Director creating, with Teresa Mosqueda, one of the strongest lobbying teams I have seen in the 29 years I have represented labor in Olympia.

kendo-joeIn his work for the WSLC, Joe has won the respect of the United Labor Lobby, legislators on both sides of the aisle, agency leaders and staff, and our community partners. Joe has amazing skills and talents in parsing legislative issues and articulating the impacts on working class families and the community. Joe steps up to leadership with ease and with confidence backed up with serious analytical acumen and purpose. The WSLC legislative program will continue to flourish with Joe’s leadership. I look forward to working with Joe in his new role.

Upon accepting the position of Government Affairs Director, Joe said, “I’m excited to continue the great work of Teresa Mosqueda as I transition in to the role of Government Affairs Director, and I look forward to working with our affiliates, community partners, and other allies to achieve real gains for working families. Teresa’s legislative legacy speaks for itself, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on her leadership in the fight to raise wages, stop wage theft, and improve working conditions for all Washingtonians.”

Please join me in congratulating Joe in his new role with the WSLC.

Earlier this week, WSLC President Jeff Johnson announced that he had appointed Teresa Mosqueda to the position of Political and Strategic Campaign Director for the WSLC.
