Poor People’s Campaign hosts Moral Monday events today

(Feb. 1, 2021) — The Washington Poor People’s Campaign invites all supporters of racial justice to join two important events today.

At 12:30 p.m. Pacific time today, on the anniversary of the start of the sit-in movement on Feb. 1, 1960, in Greensboro, N.C., the PPC will launch Moral Mondays during the first 100 days of the Biden-Harris administration. (This event will be ASL interpreted and captioned.) The PPC will push Democrats, Republicans and independents to demand just COVID relief and to immediately enact a living wage of $15 an hour covering all minimum-wage workers, including tipped workers, and stronger, expanded union rights by holding a massive call-in to the offices of Senate leaders Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell. Join this event via livestream here.

At 7 p.m. tonight, Washington PPC will host its First Monday of the Month Open House via Zoom. This is a chance to meet other folks in Washington state and hear about actions we can take here to push policy priorities for our state. Join this Zoom open house here. (Meeting ID: 850 6588 5731 — Passcode: 902181)
