Join AFA’s Sara Nelson at Alaska flight attendants’ Aug. 15 picket

SEATAC — All union members and community supporters of Alaska Airlines flight attendants are urged to join the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA systemwide informational picket from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 near Sea-Tac International Airport. AFA International President Sara Nelson will stand in solidarity with the flight attendants as they demand the fair contract they have earned.

Participants will gather at Angle Lake Park’s Shelter C (map), 19408 International Blvd. in SeaTac from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., gather at picketing locations (The HUB, Alaska corporate HQ, Flag Pavilion, AFA office — see map) at 12:30 p.m., and picket until 2 p.m.

TAKE A STAND — Hundreds have already RSVPed for this picket and more are being added every day. Please RSVP here and help them prepare for the size of crowd. There is limited parking at Angle Lake Park. There are several lots in the area that you can utilize. Carpooling and use of public transportation are encouraged, including parking at the SeaTac light rail station and taking the train one stop to Angle Lake Station, about a half-mile walk from the park.

Alaska Airlines flight attendants are working under a nine-year-old contract that has been extended twice, first due to the merger with Virgin America and second due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While Alaska Airlines has reported record revenue of $9.6 billion in 2022, Alaska Airlines’ flight attendants have not received a significant pay increase in nine years.
